UPDATE 2021: Before and After Wuhan virus, I buy things from Aliexpress, things arrive in 3-7 days to Peru Airport according to tracking (Aliexpress Standard Shipping), Customs free the packages in 5-7days, then for some reason Serpost Peru take the orders (Urbano Express was doing this when I order the Aliexpress Standard Shipping and I was very comfortable with them since it took 1-2 week to get items in place or get a call) then the delivery made wait 2-3 months every single instance after Customs release the packets, I reclaim to the administration of Serpost why they delay so much the delivery, then the response I get in every single case is one can't get the package since Serpost say not available at the moment and just need to wait when we send the packet since is ordinary delivery (that mean 2-3 months of wait in practice, best record is 6 months with them), waste of capital, resources, logistic with them, they take the great job that was doing Urbano Express (at least here in Cusco) for some reason and made a horrible job
We sent a package to Europe. In an envelope, because a box was more expensive. We sent a package of about 140 grams for 42 soles, but I think we could have sent a bit more for that price (we didn't have more with us and didn't completely trust the Peruvian post system). There was a man who packed our package for 3 soles. Contrary to our expectations our package arrived in good condition within 10 days. We thought it was quite expensive but nothing to complain about the rest.
Very good. I sent postcards. All arrived in europe and asia in 2 weeks.
Busy and time-consuming, but not difficult. On the left side of the building is a guy who will help you box up your package and gives you all the paperwork you need (5 soles per box). Then you get in line and ship the box. Don’t forget a copy of your passport, which you can get next to the inka farma for S/0.20. Shipping is expensive though— S/120 (40) for a 2.2 kg box to USA.
Super easy and straightforward. I speak no Spanish and it was a breeze. They boxed everything for me and had examples in English of how to fill the forms out. Now fingers crossed my parcel makes it to the destination!
Sending mail of any sort is time consuming, confusing, and expensive here. It'd be a better idea to buy another suitcase and fill it up and pay for the extra baggage fees if you wanted to bring stuff home. If you do intend to mail something (even just a postcard) don't forget a paper copy of your passport (theres a place that makes copies across the street to the right).
You have to speak Spanish. Then you can send stuff home if you like. But pretty expensive
