This is high-tech from the industrial revolution. The machine is made with love and now threaten as it should in the days of retirement.

Very interesting museum. You'll learn how the Dutch pumped dry a huge inner sea in the 1800's and reclaimed a vast area of land. The old machinery is demonstrated for visitors by the very helpful museum guides and it's very impressive to see it all come to life. Amazing to realize that Amsterdam a.o. towns would've vanished completely if it hadn't been for steam pumping stations such as these. The museum is OPEN by the way, despite maps saying it's temporarily closed. You do need to reserve.
Nice Technology museum. Impressive steam engine. Unfortunately the steam engine has been decommissioned, but for demonstration purposes the pumps are electrically powered, which gives a good impression of the awesome water displacement capacity of this marvel of the beginning of the steam-powered chapter of our industrial age
Great museum about the Dutch way to get more space. Beautiful early industrial building, one of the few in the Netherlands
A stunning museum with the possibility to see 2 of the 6 pumps in action
Very good. Didn't expect to see all those old engines in action.
Excellent engineering for 1800's. On Sunday there is a small tour with actors (in Dutch), and the pump is activated (normally now with electric motor) and small tour is given like 30 min. Before 12 min movie about the Dutch problems with water and how did they fix it. Nice map of NL with zones of lakes that were fluded regularly.
Pretty cool place that they even trabslatet the history to norwegian for me and talked english definetly worth to have a trip to there
