Beautiful walk! Very steep hills and dips at points so be dressed for it unlike I was! :) Can't wait to go again!

‘The Glen’ is a special place for everyone who has ever lived or spent time in Crumlin. In black and white days you were allowed into the historically significant ‘Cockle House’. Without the iron gates prohibiting entry, it offered the best view of the waterfall, which was why it was originally built. It’s not hard to imagine it’s constructor sitting in it in days of old with a fire lit, falling water and rich surrounds crisp with frost. As children we swam in the river and on the annual village ‘Civic Week’ a pole was placed across it, next to the bridge in the car park and hundreds of people would pack out the place to watch volunteers pummel each other in a pillow-fight. Simpler and much happier days that have sadly given way to the litigious necessity of heath and safety. Without any of the personal significance though it is, in its own right, a beautiful place. Filled with hundreds of years of history. Nature abounds, there are points for fishing, it is a tranquil oasis away from the world and it’s free, even the parking. In a world were commercialism dominates Crumlin Glen exists to remind us that the world existed before and will outlast all of us. The beauty it holds may be diminishing, but there are still places that exist for no other reason than they are beautiful and natural. Take some time to remember that.
A little hidden gem. Short walk. Wellies or walking shoes in wet weather are a must. Lovely water side views.
Thin path at times, slopes, steps and nud and puddles. A walk for shoes with good grip and waterproof in the winter. Very pretty.
