I travelled over 60 miles to St Anne’s in order to go to an opticians that came very highly recommended by a friend – it was well worth it! Given how important your eyes are why wouldn’t you give them more than the basic standard eye test - I gave mine the ultimate MOT! In order to assess my vison needs (I didn’t realise I had any other than to see properly) they get into the detail of your life style and help you to consider other aspects which I wouldn’t have e.g. computer usage, driving - head light glare . There is a whole science on the different quality lenses that are available, Zeiss of course, and which frames best suited my face shape. The equipment that they had was amazing, so hi-tec which looked behind the eyes for problems that cannot be detected on a normal eye test. The team at this opticians provided a service that exceeded my expectations on every level! They were informative, friendly, professional, ensuring my examination was thorough with the final purchase being tailor made for me. All the benefits fully explained ensuring that the vision I deserved had been optimized to its full potential by the extensive examination I received, the best lenses in the industry that suited my profile finished off with a great range of frames to choose from, professionally fitted by Nicky. Above all they gave me plenty of time, explaining everything and answering my questions. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, a big thank you from me, you bet I will be back! xxx

Mr. Cottam was highly recommended to me a friend who works in eye clinics. That was 23 years ago and the family now insist on seeing only him! He was brilliant when my children were small - gave excellent advice and care to my son especially which means his eyesight / muscles are much better in adulthood. Now as adults themselves they too return. Service is fantastic and the team, especially Nicky Hutchison, are knowledgeable, patient, helpful and friendly. 10/10.
Have been going to this opticians for many years, the service has always been first class, brilliant staff and very thorough eye examination,. Excellent service. Twice in the past few months they have quicky diagnosed issues with my eye that enabled me to get urgent treatment which would prevent more serious issues. Everyone is friendly, professional and very good at what they do. We first used Cottam and Glaister over 35 years ago, based on a personal recommendation. We have used them ever since and they now look after my whole family, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Mr Cottam of Cottam & Glaister is by far the best optometrist I have ever been examined by in the 50 years I have had eye examinations. He has a first class professional, cheerful and empathetic team who make a visit to the opticians a relaxed and pleasant experience. Cottam and Glaister's charges are surprisingly inexpensive and affordable notwithstanding their gold standard service and appearance.
