What a great local shop, always friendly and helpful staff. Always got just what you need in an emergency. And great for picking up the essentials. Very reasonable.

Just been treated horrifically in Sandhar's shop in Newport (previously Cost Cutter) because of my assistance dog. I was shouted at by a significantly older man, which I found very threatening and intimidating. I was repeatedly told that I was not allowed her in the shop, asked to leave because of my assistance dog, which is against the law. They then refused to serve me, again against the law, even after being presented with Chloe's ID card. After a kind member of the public stepped in and backed me up they finally backed down and allowed me to purchase my 2 chocolate bars. I could have been in there under a minute but instead I was in there for around 10, and have left distressed. I do not recommend them on a customer service front. Chloe is there to help me go about my life normally, and while I am not legally obliged to tell someone in advance I am coming with my dog, I like to if I am going to be spending time somewhere. I was buying 2 chocolate bars, I did not need to tell them in advance. I do not usually make things formal, however with the way I was treated I feel I have been left with no choice. I have contacted ADI & ADUK. Refusing an assistance dog is illigal, regardless of your personal opinion on dogs, Chloe is highly trained and classed as an axillary aid, just like a wheelchair.
