I did a lot of research on who I wanted to use for our basement. We selected the best 3 based on reviews and references. Moose seemed to fit the bill based on their professional quote and their price. Unfortunately, things went south very quickly. We lost track of how many times we had to contact them for issues. The lack of communication was constant and the workmanship did not follow. Our drywall wasn't straight in some areas, there were scratches and dents everywhere, some floor areas were not protected, and nothing was followed as per the construction plan (electrical, plumbing). We were promised excellent quality of work but it was nothing short of a disappointment. To add to the lack of communication, they would set dates for different phases and never followed through with them. They may have had a great team in the past but it's no longer the case. My advice: look elsewhere! Hopefully you won't make the same mistake I did.

By writing this review, I am hoping prospective customers will do their due diligence when choosing a basement company. We hired Moose Basements after doing our own research and were very happy with the initial quote and the way everything was handled in the beginning. We ended picking them over 3 other competitors thinking we had picked the best company. Unfortunately, things got sour days after days. The framing portion for our basement did not follow the plans in the layout and the drywall was uneven in many areas, to say the least. We were promised a luxurious basement but it ended up being a subpar basement to the point that we are considering to hiring a new company to make it a simple, usable basement. What a shame! The electrical layout was completely different from initially planned and everything was done without our prior consent, which meant that there were lots of after the fact modification. It was supposed to be a straightforward 3 weeks basement renovation and ended up being much longer, with lots of headaches. They may have been a great company in the past but this is nothing but a big disappointment for us. Hopefully you won't make the same mistake.

I wanted to share my experience with Moose Basement, with whom we decided to go after extensive research, including reading online reviews and calling referrals. We were promised a lot and let me tell you, nothing close to it was delivered. There was a constant lack of communication, the crew did not care about getting the best quality and finishes and the project manager rarely showed up to follow up on the progress. From what we've heard from the subcontractor they used, they do not pay their contractors and it shows. Be careful with the multiple 5 star reviews you read online over a short period of time, some may be fake. Hopefully our own experience will help others make a more educated decision on who they pick for their basement project. There are plenty of better competitors out there!

The whole family loves our basement that Moose Basements was contracted to finish this last winter! My children have beautiful open space in the basement to play now! We also have a very cozy entertainment area for us to spend time! Right from the start, when we visited Moose Basements design centre in Vaughan we had the confidence that they are the ones who will do the job to our satisfaction. At the end we are happy that we were right! The whole staff and their team of tradesmen left a very good impression and this is the only company I will refer if anyone has the need to finish their basement on budget and in a timely manner!

Had my basement renovated by Moose Basements in 2018, plus new windows in the whole house. I really loved working with them. Top notch renovators who don't cut corners and do great work. The best thing was the open communication with them. They were able to pivot on projects if half-way through, I wanted some changes or additions to the project. Always super friendly. The final result was fantastic.
