Mario Di Maggio - Event Domes

Yesterday, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered an all-day 7m digital dome experience at Calne Community Hub & Library as part of the Calne Literacy Festival WordFest. I was warmly welcomed by the staff, who were most efficient and very well organised. I found the beautiful circular library space prepared just as I had requested. The day ran very smoothly with all school groups and public audiences arriving on time. Attendees enjoyed a rich selection of content: peering up at the planetarium night sky, visiting the International Space Station, handling a meteorite, travelling through the Solar System - as well as learning about nuclear fusion, supernovae, the history of the Space Race and why the Universe is beautiful. The evening ended on a high note with two full performances of Dark Side of the Moon. Thank you Calne Community Hub & Library for a very pleasant visit.

My family and I really like this library. It has helpful and friendly staff and excellent activities for children, including Rhyme Time for babies and toddlers and Teddybear Sleepovers! There is a good local studies area, which includes books and maps, as well as computers and a photocopier. There is a good book choice for a library of this size and books can be reserved from any Wiltshire library and collected / dropped off here. Now with the inclusion of the community hub, the library has more activities than ever. Along with staffed opening times, you can go to the library and register for self-service access, which provides extended opening for the library. There is disabled access and toilets.

This is a friendly and welcoming library. The staff are always helpful and will order anything you want in. The children's section is fantastic and really encourages reading. Great view out onto the town too.
