After many wonderful years of making awesome memories at this vacation spot, it took poor management to go from a 5 star rating to 1. Communications with the new management, is terrible! Emails and phone calls not answered, when trying to book a time slot! Worse though, was the booking of a regular cottage by my daughter, at the time of leaving after her week there, for the next season. (the way it's been done since going there over 20 years ago) While waiting for the confirming invoice for deposit (usually in Feb.) many emails were going unanswered, until finally a text message got through. The annoyed owner, said, yes the cottage was available, but she was very busy and hadn't gotten the invoices out yet! (works full-time job) My daughter, waited and waited for the invoice. Vacation time booked, plans made! In August, 2020 she finally receives the invoice, only to be told she had been moved out of the 3 bedroom cottage she had originally booked, to a 2 bedroom cottage located closer to the office. They gave the cottage my daughter booked to someone who wanted to stay longer! No choice, no notice, and it was a done deal. Management was very sorry for any inconvenience! There was a reason for booking this 3 bedroom cottage! The booking for my daughter's time there was the last week in Sept. 2020! Her vacation was trashed, with no chance of finding another place! It's hard to believe they have so little regard for patrons who have been going yearly! Beyond disappointed! Very unprofessional behavior! Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this place, solely on the risk of disappointment at the last moment! No way to do business!

If you're looking for a great place to rent a cottage or bring your RV, Opeongo Trail is fantastic. Located on the Madawaska River, the resort has boats (motor, canoes, kayaks) for rent or your can bring your own for exploring the river or fishing. There is a shared beach, dock and playground on site or alternately if you are renting one of the great cottages, you have your own beach and dock. The cottages are stocked with almost everything you need, but you do need to bring some bedding (some is supplied) and towels (don't forget dishtowels!) from home. A great getaway in the little town of Combermere, about 20-30 mins from Bancroft.

Been trying to reserve a couple RV sites since of Aug. I've emailed, I called the ph.# on the web site & turns out to be Cell Phone # & was told to call another Ph.# so I've called several times & left messages but no replies.Funny thing is that I get a notice that my messages have been read but they choose not to respond. This used to be a good place. Very poor management, I do not recommend.
Tried to book a vacation here for my family in July. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Owner just randomly refused to reply to our email thread after confirming the availability for over a week. When she did she made it VERY CLEAR it was a "QUITE" campsite once I told her it was for my husband, kids and I. Despite the website clearly outlining numerous fun activities for families (especially those with young kids) to enjoy. Once she stated that, that was the end of our interaction. She did not respond to any further emails from me requesting to finalize our booking. I will not be recommending this resort to anyone, in fact I have already steered a few families away from it. Absolutely horrible experience.
What a perfect destination! James and Carolyn are very accommodating and to say this place is beautiful would be an understatement!! We go two times and year and are always looking forward to the next visit!! 10 stars!!!
Best hospitable area around. Full of joy and great conversation. An awesome place for a get away or visit. Go on enjoy your self at the opeongo.
