Simply called Galle Face Roundabout representing BEACON OF ETERNAL GLORY The fountain structure is to be located in the most prestigious urban esplanade with a historic significance in the city of Colombo. The importance of the place has to be highlighted by the monument. The Galle face green has been the avenue of celebration for the Victory Day since the liberation of the country from the LTTE terror so that the new fountain will be the main focal point to symbolize the new found independence after the civil war. The envisioning of a modern country towards future success is phenomenal throughout the adjourning urban landscape so that the motive of the design is to create a monumental structure that symbolizes the historic prestige, prosperity and the glory of the armed forces that preserves the harmony and serendipity. YAPAHUWA SINHAYA – THE SYMBOLIZATION OF THE COURAGE AND PRESTIGE OF THE NATION.IT ALSO IMPLIES THE HISTORICAL TRANSCENDENCE OF THE PEOPLE AND CULTURE OF SRI LANKA. SINCE THE SYMBOLIZATION OF THE LION IS THE MOST EMINENT EMBLEM IT ACTS AS AN ICON TO THE MONUMENT. WATER – THE OVERFLOWING PROSPERITY AND SERENITY OF THE COUNTRY AND THE ABUNDANCE THAT SURROUNDS BEING AN ISLAND NATION. WATER ALSO ACTS AS AN ELEMENT OF CALM AND TRANQUILITY THAT IS BEING EXPERIENCED AT THE PRESENT SOCIO POLITICAL CONTEXT OF SRI LANKA. CENTER PIECE \t– THE CELEBRATION AND FLAME OF THE GLORY ACHIEVED BY THE ARMED FORCES AND POLITICAL LEADERSHIP. IT WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED BY SPECIAL LIGHTING DURING NIGHT TIME WHICH ELABORATES THE IDEA OF THE BEACON WHICH IS THE PRIME COMPONENT OF THE STRUCTURE. TRIAD OF SPIKE – SYMBOLIZES THE ARMED FORCES WHO PROTECT THE COUNTRY AND ALSO IT ACTS AS A GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THE UNPARALLELED CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE CIVIL WAR VICTORY. The roundabout are ornameted with four lion statues, with crocodile shape fountain nozzles. Cute.
