Our son joined CHS at the beginning of Year 6 and it has been the best move we have made for him! He has been given wonderful opportunities to deepen his strengths and nurtured in areas of development. The teachers have been quite magnificent and have given him a safe, happy place to thrive. Such lovely pupils too. Thank you CHS.

We visited Colchester High School recently to provide our educational shows and workshops about friendship and respecting others. The school team were incredibly friendly and could not have been more welcoming. The students were thoughtful, respectful, and behaved in a very mature manner throughout the workshops and show. We were very impressed by both the students and teachers, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for having us and for being so welcoming.

Colchester High School recognises and celebrates the brilliance of each individual child. Staff really care about the children and academically they help pupils to grow in confidence while challenging them to be the best they can. The site is a typical town centre venue so doesn’t have the spacious surroundings, grounds or parking of some private schools, but look past this and you will find a hidden gem of a school. My kids love it!

At the time of writing my son is in the reception class at Colchester High School and my daughter is in the nursery. I cannot fault this school and am genuinely grateful for all it has done so far to help my kids, particularly my son settle into their education. Children are seen as individuals here and the teaching is excellent with full differentiation to ensure each child reaches their potential academically. There is also a strong emphasis on sport starting from nursery age which my two absolutely thrive on. With its quirky array of somewhat charming Victorian buildings that lay home to so many wonderful staff and students, the school is a very welcoming place. I feel as though my family are part of a warm and friendly community that will always do its best to guide our kids through the most impressionable years of their life. A positive buzz runs though the school at all times and from what I can see, this stems from the school’s ability to create happy confident kids with good values. The interaction between different year groups is a lovely thing to see. At the school disco, my four year old son was chatting to a group of eight year olds. They all know each other and are all friends! A great place :)
