Delicious food, served by friendly, cheerful staff in a relaxing, comfortable environment. We felt safe and well protected due to a one way system, temperature gauge and lots of hand gel, plus all staff wore masks. Would highly recommend.

Our book group always celebrates at Christmas by going out for dinner at a local restaurant. This year, we had a fabulous night in the private dining room at Cognito on the Corner. Food and service were both outstanding. The restaurant was packed, but we were treated with great care and the waitress and all other serving staff were fantastic. Lovely, positive attitudes all round, including the manager who came in for a chat with us and was obviously on top of things and very concerned that everything would go well for our evening. Which it did! We were served drinks, and our meals, promptly but with no sense of rush. The waitress kept an eye on our progress and the next course, and additional drinks, were all brought in a very timely manner. Each of our choices from the Christmas menu were delicious, especially the turkey which was voted the best any of us had ever eaten in a restaurant. Top marks all round. We'll be booking for next Christmas, no question.

Made booking through the website for 1845, which said table due back at 2045. Was with my 7/9yo daughters. On arrival, was immediately and forcefully informed by bearded European waiter that table had to be back at 2000 because of licensing laws and that this was made clear on booking (which it wasn’t). Food was decent enough - excellent chunky chips, nice lentil soup, both red wines good; smoked salmon not good at all however. Another waiter came at end to explain licensing laws (they are viewed as a pub not a restaurant hence 8pm). But perhaps a trend about attitude to children on reading other reviews, so consider carefully if you want to go with kids. Would go back as an adult group.
