This bank is the grand prize winner for poor service. I am leaving Scotia after 40 years, taking everything out and over to another. The concept of what a bank could and should be in modern times does not live here. Can't connect with this folks by phone, only a endless call center circle. The newly announced fee hikes are simply extortion and the last straw for me.

My Husband received a phone call from Robert a Financial Planner, today asking if my husband was on " the list " meaning the "layoffs list "for two Companies which will be merging in 2021. Most unprofessional , and unethical behavior EVER ...Would not recommend the Financial Advice of such Unethical Behaviour ..We are not Scotiabank customers ..but were solicited ...so unprofessional ...and Unethical
I was unable to e-transfer funds into my Scotia account from another branch even though I had completed the same transfer for 8 years. They told me my debit card had expired so therefore my online service was locked. I asked why my new card had not been mailed, they stated because they do not mail this type of info. in the mail. (Wrong) I spoke to a supervisor who stated for some reason even though my statements were coming in the mail they returned my new debit back to Scotia, who was to then inform me, but somehow that was missed. I asked If they could just open the online for this particular transaction and they said no. Leaving me to drive 1hr and 20mins one way to go into a Scotia branch to resolve the issue.
I have always had a good time going there and the staff are very nice and treat me with lots of respect!
Why do you make getting ahold of you impossible? For a branch with such embarrassing hours you think you would pick the damn phone up
Let me start off with saying that I have been a customer at Scotiabank for over 10 years. I had a line of credit, have had credit cards, a chequing and savings account. They had been satisfactory in the past. However, not too long ago I was in a not-at-fault car accident and my insurance had to write-off my vehicle. I was rather stressed about this bit of a financial emergency as would be expected of a University Student who suddenly had no form of transportation to get to classes in Calgary. I went in and asked to speak with anyone because I needed some kind of reassurance and financial advice. However, I was told that no one would see me. And that no one would see me for the next two days. Sadly when I experience a financial Emergency, Scotiabank didn't have the time of day to see me and simply couldn't be bothered to help me. I have closed my accounts and promptly switched banks. Unfortunately, I have to strongly express my disappointment and I firmly caution any future clients of Scotiabank.
Recently visited and was extremely impressed specially after reading the reviews. After talking to the tellers they mentioned that there has been a new management and all new staff in the last 6 months. They were short staff for the past year do retirements. I found that they were extremely helpful and went above & beyond.
I've never had the best service at any Scotiabank in Calgary and I've written a couple bad reviews so I was nervous about my appointment this past Saturday . My husband and I ended up getting Justin Lalonde (branch manager). I give him these 5 stars!! he was an amazing help and answered every question we had!!! excellent guy and very knowledgeable.
