Beautiful room, nice food.
Amazing venue, architecturally superb. The blending of the wonderfully old and individual with the new generic hotel has been done very well. Prices at the bar are what you would expect, not the cheapest, but decent range (if you get the right bartender who knows what he's doing and doesn't just wander off to leave you standing). Food for a large number of guests was managed well, with good size.portions and food was hot, despite the length of the substantial queue.
Was invited here for my friends wedding. The venue itself is beautiful. Very tastefully decorated and whilst their wedding was perfect I felt they were let down by the planners. This obviously didnt ruin their day but i feel its something the venue may like to consider moving forwards. When i arrived the wedding guests, including the groom, were all sat in the bar in the front of the hotel. If anyone has ever visited you will know this is an area with full glass panels to the front. When the bridal car pulled up it quickly became apparent this was not the best place for us all to be as this would be where the bride would enter. In panic the groom went and spoke to someone on reception who told us we could go around to the bar in the Cloisters suite but that the bar would not be open. So we were all ushered atound to this area and just left to wait for what felt like an eternity. The ceremony room itself wasn't ready and the bar staff suddenly appeared to begin stocking the bar for later that day. It almost felt like they wasn't expecting us! Eventually a lady appeared and asked us to go take our seats and tgen vanished again. By this time I was beginning to feel like we were a herd of cattle. We were left again for another eternity before the registrar came strolling in. After this things seemed to run more smoothly and to plan. I just think in future it would be beneficial to have an event planner on hand from the start to guide people and also better planning for the location of guests on arrival. I'm happy to say the bride and groom however had a perfect day
