Staff monitoring the queue kept disappearing. Marks on floor inside show where to queue but then nowhere to wait for your order and it was a long wait, I was moving from spot to spot as people kept being allowed in. Despite big sign saying one person from a group come in to order morons came in in couples, oblivious. Staff very young and I wouldn't expect them to challenge them. This place has never been speedy so they are definitely challenged now. Restaurant side appeared to only be serving food outside, lot of staff standing about could have helped speed drink service. Apparently you needed to queue at restaurant for food then in other side for drinks, highly inefficient.

Fantastic ice cream! Visited the north east twice this year, and made sure to visit Ciccarelli on both occasions! Friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced, indoor and outdoor seating, and huge variety of flavours - the whole family loved it!
Great gelato
Lovely ice cream but absolutely no adherence to the Covid rules by the majority of customers. Very few face masks, poor social distancing and too many people in the shop despite very clear signage. Staff did nothing to encourage the rules. A very unpleasant experience
Very tasty Italian gelato, highly recommend the pistachio and Turkish delight flavours. Will definitely come back when I'm next in the area
