After more then 15 orders, Chicken George has never disappointed. Today they were able to swap out two orders because the menu is different on deliveroo and just eat. The food arrived and was both piping hot and delicious. Chicken George smashed it out of the park yet again! Easily out favourite place to eat from I'm Hertfordshire!

Food is great no faulting it. Unfortunately my visit went as below: Order on JustEat for collection for 17:40 Arrive at 17:40, “Oh good you’re here we’ll start cooking your food now”, despite me asking to COLLECT it at 17:40. Been advised there’s a 30min-45min wait time. Generously wait a full hour, where my app shows my food as collected, at 18:40 I ask where my order is, staff member glances at my phone for 2 seconds and says she’ll be right back. 10 minutes later and no staff have got back to me so I go back to the order desk. I get another quick glance at my phone, where someone just shouts to the kitchen “Anyone got his order!?” With lots of blank faces staring back. So at 18:50 I’m assured my food will be ready in 10 mins, so I wait outside the kitchen, 10 minutes later I’m given food, and it’s the completely incorrect order, clearly have my name mixed up with someone else. So for the first time in an hour and a half, someone actually takes the time to read my actual order on the just eat app rather than just glancing at it, unfortunately in order to do that she had to snatch my phone out of my hand without asking and walk 10 feet away to the register. Low and behold I finally get my order at 19:10, “I put an extra bit of chicken (worth 1.50) and a few drinks in there for you” (worth about 2) on an 30 order. Stepped outside the door where my drinks plastic bag promptly split in half. At least the food was good. Worth noting that during my time waiting at the front the staff member on the register was assuring other people who had ordered for collection their food will be ready in “About half an hour”, so either I’m the unlucky one who had to wait 3 times as long or it’s a case of overpromise and underdeliver. Think next time I’ll just wait until they offer delivery to my area so I can at least wait 3 hours in my home like the rest of these lot than 90 minutes in a overcrowded chicken shop in the peak of COVID.
The wait was rather long for a Tuesday night (33 minutes) but the staff, who were visibly busy, were really lovely. Top notch team who did well in difficult conditions. The meat was succulent, and the mango chicken burger is definitely worth a try. Good atmosphere, laid back, and relaxed. Definitely will return (and I am a Londoner, so I do recognise a good chicken joint!)
As a service engineer I travel around different counties and have to get lunch on the go. This is the best southern fried chicken I have ever tasted. Not greasy but loads of flavour and the Thai chicken wings are out of this world. If you are really hungry, try the potato tots and undo your belt.
