This is a long due review! We were in Verdun last year, for a film project around Franz Marc, the German painter who died next to Verdun during the First World War. At the end of each day, we returned invariably very late in Verdun, but every time we were welcomed with friendliness by the owners and the staff of Chez Mamie. We were traveling with our dog, a border collie-icelandic sheepdog mix, and they had no problem in welcoming him and letting him stay next to our table. When we left and the place was closing down, also the chef came to say hello to our dog. The food was delicious, in large portions, as it has always been the case in traditional, rustic French restaurants. Delicious potatoes, hams, but also fish-based plates that make my mouth water even more than one year after my last visit in Verdun. This is healthy, strong, mouth watering cuisine that is rustic but also very elegant, with beautiful large plates that deliver exactly what they promise. Many of the clients seemed to be regular visitors, and this made the atmosphere homely and friendly. It might seem a cliche', but the genuine and direct friendliness of the place reminded me of the nice little restaurants in which you would not be surprised to see good old Maigret eating in a corner. We loved the place so much we went there basically every evening of our 5 day stay in Verdun. I hope to be back soon.

A cozy place with great food. Very reasonable prices as well.
The host and server were both extremely friendly and offered to speak in English; very accommodating! The food was fresh and delicious. The back room featured the classic comedy l'aile ou la cuisse and it was fun to look around.
Just eaten here. Found this place to be a vulgar. Cuisine was fair enough but portions were way too big, so one feels stuffed rather than satisfied. Prices are reasonable. Staff are pleasant enough. Personally I can’t see how it’s been rated so high - as I said before all rather vulgar. I won’t pass on a recommendation.
Lovely atmosphere and really kind staff. The restaurant is in perfect \Maigret style\ and the food is extremely good. My advise is to choose your dish from the menu of the day (hanged on the wall) and not from the paper menu. It is a perfect location to try out typical French dishes and tradition. Highly recommend!
Very nice food and staff
Great food, great personell, recommend it for all of you that passing through. We were delighted with food and ambience. Good portions for average price, authentic French cuisine. It's just 10 minutes of driving from A4 :) Well done, Chez Mamie!
Nice restaurant! We enjoyed diner here in August 2017. Good food but unfortunately no vegetarian dishes.
