I had an afternoon to kill in Chester so looked for the library so that I could get some work done. I'd been to the Storyhouse and forgotten it was now the library as well as a venue and cinema and caf. \What a nice place to get my work done\, I thought. Except I forgot that every time I've been here in the past, was to see a show and have and drink. It's a really nice venue. As a library, it's a bit of nightmare, I've got my noise cancelling headphones on with the radio playing at a decent volume and I can still hear the background music. I think I was more comfortable, could think and concentrate better in the Spoons round the corner.

Absolutely excellent transformation, now the library/Storyhouse is a social hub in Chester. OK, a lot of ‘purist’ library goers won’t feel at home, but there are quiet areas, and at least the place is being well used. I’d lived near Chester for 20 years and had been to the old library less than 10 times. I now visit at least every couple of weeks. Spot on, well done.
A wonderful venue offering high end plays and shows, a cinema, a terrific library and well stocked café.
There is currently a choir singing in the main area as I’m trying to do my work. Not blaming the choir but why make this library open plan and then put live music bang in the middle? This isn’t a library, it’s a cafe/ performance venue with books in it
In the overview I'm told I last visited this place in 2017. I'm usually here every other week. I read a lot. I'v got to say that although the choice of books is good, it is a long time ago since the contents of the library were updated. If you are 2 books into a trilogy, you generally won't get the 3rd. Also since the move to Storyhouse many books seem to have been removed. I like being here, it's relaxing, but access is cramped, always reaching over or bumping into other people.
