Easily the best mexican restaurant in San Antonio! I highly recommend everyone to try it out. The food was so fresh and authenticate. Don't forget to try the flan, too!

The atmosphere is nice, we sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. Drinks are good, we had Margaritas. The food can be better. Had the combo plate and of the three ( chicken enchilada, chalupa, and gordita) the gordita was the only tasty food item. The beans taste like they were from the can and rice was cold. The wait time was too long.
I was delighted to learn that Chela's had opened up a brick and mortar restaurant. I was introduced to their amazing tacos many years ago when their food truck visited our office. I feel in love then and went on scavenger hunts trying to find out where they'd be parked. I'm not an early riser so I would always get there late and they'd be out of their famous cilantro chicken tacos. But now I don't need to worry about that! They have a full menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The complimentary chips and salsa comes with a variety of salsas for everyone's pallet. The ambiance is great. The service is second to none. And the food is still as delicious as ever!
Original Donut Shop is my go-to for breakfast tacos in San Antonio but decided to try this place since I always drive by it. Ordered the chicken and pork tamale and a few breakfast tacos. Pork tamale was better than the chicken tamale because the chicken was a bit dry. The sauces that came with the tamales were not very good.. I preferred the green sauce that came with the tacos! The chorizo in the breakfast tacos had a different flavor I haven’t really tasted elsewhere.. some kind of cumin/curry spice, which I liked! Tortillas usually make or break tacos for me and these tortillas were just okay..
Love this place. Good neighborhood eatery, Tex-Mex style, family oriented, with a small bar. Tables and bar top are decorated with pennies. Open and light filled, it has good ambience, and excellent service. Food is made fresh and it's a good place for vegetarians & vegans because the meat is cooked separately. Their vegetable soup is fresh & delicious. Good margaritas. Lucian is personable, and always ready with a smile.
