This is an absolutely fantastic little walk. We started at BlackRock parking on the B3135, where the black rock trail meets the Mendip way. Head east on the Mendip way trail and onto the cheddar gorge South ridge trail. An immediately steep and rocky climb lasting for about 45 mins ( fitness depending ) then levels out and you suddenly find the most astonishing views. So worth the climb. Follow the path down to the main part of cheddar gorge and explore the shops etc. Then up the North ridge to get back to the car. The North ridge starts off steep also and seems more relentless than the south....but we were knackered anyway by then. Lots more views. In all it took us about 4.5 hrs with lots of stops. It was free to park...basically just a layby. Watch out for goats on the south trail and the roads too. You really need good sturdy boots for this as it is very rocky throughout. The photos won't do it justice.

This path provides excellent views across the gorge as well as out towards Weston-super-Mare and the sea. Whilst it is a steep climb with quite a few steps (not suitable for wheelchairs or push chairs) it is the view at the top that is the reward. There is plenty of space at the top to find your own place to enjoy the views and take in the scenery. We stayed for 1hr 30mins and saw a buzzard, a glider and a helicopter as well as a few drones. It is very peaceful at the top of the gorge, with mostly just the sound of the cars and motorcycles below. This is a lovely place to spend time and appreciate how lucky we are to visit.

Lovely walk along the Jacob's ladder side. Not too muddy or slippery either, considering the amount of rain in the last few days.

Amazing walk, we started at the top on the National trust side and it starts with a steep climb up steps but not to hard and then a level walk along the cliff.... Steep decent which can be slippy in places if it has been raining so boots are needed. Ends near the village at a beautiful cafe...Cafe Gorge..... Stunning.

Beautiful views on a moderately challenging walk/climb. Very rocky path to reach the top but well worth it! 5 & 7 year old managed with no drama but no buggy access. Would highly recommend!
