Five stars for the history and beachwalk, but it may not be worth the hike on Morris Island. If you can get onto the island (have to travel by boat), you likely will have a several mile hike roundtrip (factor at least two hours from the lighthouse). While the beach is beautiful, the remains of the fort are back behind the dunes and vegetation. Since you really should not trample on dune grass, this makes it so you cannot really see the fort from this part of the island. It would be better to see Fort Wagner from where you can drive on the nearby peninsula.
