Went here when visiting the castle as we didn't want to eat in the national trust cafe. We were seated quickly and our orders were placed promptly. The food was of a good quality and tasted nice and fresh. The staff were all polite and friendly giving a good atmosphere of friendly village pub.

When you lead a pub in front of a big castle and that you are the only pub around, then you get a lot of hungry visitors and this a challenge for the organisation This pub manage the rush in a perfect way. Despite tons of people coming in, we spent 1:15 in the pub to order, get served and eat. This is truly exceptional. Plus the food is an improved pub food with a superb roasted salmon. The soup of the day was amazing too Greatly recommended
Popped in here without booking. Were able to accommodate a large group over two tables. Attentive service, good well kept beer and nice food will priced. Plus really well located for the castle.
A lovely place, completely new and well designed inside. Reasonable prices, very good and fresh food. Absolutely recommended!
The service was amazing and food excellent with added beautiful big garden by the river.
