What a place! The drive up the hill is well paved but steep in places (at least six hairpin bends) but the views are outstanding and inside the Abbey the artwork and architecture are truly special. If there is one thing to see in Montecassino this is it.

As always Montecassino was splendid... every time my husband and I come to Italy we need to stop at Montecassino... the view, the energy and the place makes me feel that I'm in heaven. I have time to meditate, to pray and to think about everything happening in my life at peace. I love it.
It was my life-long dream to visit this place where my father used to visit during the time I was born 30 years ago, and thus my name Benedict. God gave me the means to achieve it November 2018. I prayed to the tomb of St. Benedict, the founder of Western monasticism. It was surreal, walking up to its entrance, feeling the serenity and holiness of the place, close to the skies, closer to God.
Highly recommended to book tours from the Abbey. I'll see much more, you'll find out a lot more than you can expect. Great attitude from the staff.
Great location, great history. Nice free visit all year around. Strategic position.
