A terrific cozy restaurant with superb food. This is the place to find and eat while visiting Tomar. Excellent food, wonderful wait staff and casual atmosphere. Duck was delicious and the fish was tasty! Don’t forget dessert and a shot to finish. One of the most memorable lunches in Portugal.

It’s ok. They have a few veggie options otherwise quite meaty.

Very simply, don’t go there. The owner clearly didn’t want to let us in and was telling one of his poor workers (in Portuguese, so that I couldn’t understand) to keep us out, then forced us to be there at 7:30 and not any later. Ok: we sit down at 7:30. At 8:30, no food is in sight. We ask again and again, finally food comes. Meanwhile, the owner was complaining with some friends about us. Eventually we pay, and find out that they accepted only cash or Portuguese credit cards (?). Last, they checked our bill TWICE. My mother tries to complain in Italian, very angrily, and the owner laughs and comments something like “she’s crazy”. This is the only time in Portugal we’ve met such racist and mafia-like behavior. So again, if you don’t want to spoil you experience, avoid this place. Ps.: food was average.

The food here is quite traditional Portuguese fare and well executed. The surroundings are a little different, in a good way, sort of shabby chic, if you will, Portuguese style. However, this is a place for a leisurely lunch as the service takes forever. I like the house special for desert (a kind of chocolate/ biscuit/ cream extravaganza - can't remember what they call it, but you'll see it in the fridge) but others find it too much, also the lait creme here is a good choice for pud.

We live in Tomar and have been coming here for years. Actually two restaurants with the same menu but different interiors. In warmer months there is outdoor seating. The menu changes daily and highlights are duck rice, pork cheeks, favas with pork and roasted duck. Fried cuttlefish & pork liver are also great. The food is genuine Portuguese and is always consistently great! Staff is attentive & professional. Cheese board, bread and olives are offered as optional as is done in Portugal. You eat them you pay(very reasonable) or just kindly decline them. We adore this restaurant and will be returning for years to come.

Best meal I've ever had in Portugal. This place is not super easy to find, and if you get there before 7:30PM for dinner you will find it closed. But if you wait it will be worth the wait. Every meal is gourmet, and they have great specials. They serve their wine in jugs and give you a small glass to drink it with. The glass is barely large enough to hold a few sips. The place used to be a wine bar in the old days, and these small glasses is how it was consumed. A few cents per glass for those that just wanted a few small snorts of wine. The decor is still the style of the old wine bar, and has these large wine barrels on one side, and cubby holes for bottles of wine on the other side. The waiter recommended the Pork Cheaks, and I've never had them before, so I was a little scared to make that my meal, but I was sorry that I listened to him. It was be best braised meat that I've ever had, and it was served with perfectly roasted potatoes and al dente collard greens cooked in olive oil. I also had some cheese and bread as a app, and all of this for 16 EUR. I was so happy with how amazing the meal was for such a low cost that I doubled the check and left it as a tip.

I had the same experience as some other clients and unfortunately (or not) I haven’t had the chance to try the food. Totally unorganized, free tables and a lot of people waiting outside for hours for a table. The owner is arrogant and doesn’t show any sympathy for the people waiting. If you don’t get a table on your arrival, avoid this mess and move to another restaurant.
