Visited Carmelo's for food twice now since it has been renovated and new chef appointed. Not been for a long time because of being so disappointed with the food. However, the food this time was outstanding, really impressed. Had to wait a long time for food to come at one visit. The staff were lovely and attentive. In particular, I cannot praise the Door Lady enough, so polite and friendly and really helpful in explaining all the new guidelines and made me feel extremely safe and well looked after.

Best beef stew I've had, absolutely stuffed with meat and veg and piping hot too.

A great family run business! The atmosphere is always lively, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the food is always exceptional - traditionally Sicilian. Will always keep returning.

Had ciccetti, great portion size. 4 dishes enough for 2. Prawns with chilli, arancini, spare ribs amazing

We ordered a \Fresh\ seafood platter and some Arancini balls from the new tapas menu. The food took 50 minutes to arrive despite the place being extremely quiet. The seafood platter turned up eventually minus the bread and lemon mayonnaise as advertised on the menu. The Arancini balls also did not show up. The seafood platter is not what you would imagine, none of the products tasted fresh. It came as a bed of cold muscles, mini octopus and salad, surrounded by a few tasteless prawns, salmon and what tasted like pickled fish out of a jar. The excuse for the delay in bringing the food was it takes time to prepare fresh fish which I would understand if any cooking was involved in this platter however everything was cold and I have tasted better tinned fish from my local supermarket. The calamari may have been ok had they not have placed them on top of the cold soggy fish making cold and also soggy. After waiting for a further 5 minutes the bread arrived. I had to ask again for the lemon Mayonnaise, once that came I had to ask again for the Arancini balls which were luke warm and tasteless. We ate a few mouthfulls and decided to leave. Not once were we asked if the food was ok. The only good thing about this meal was the Gin and Tonic.
