If only you could got back to older times to see what this place looked like it must have been amazing, talk about a room with a view they certainly had one,but of course in those days it was more of a defence to be up there to be able to see any potential enemies out to get you,the history of this place dates back to the the Bronze Age of a 1000BC and later the fort was enlarged in the Iron Age period between 500-100BC,there has been a few excavations over the years finding animal bones and pottery etc,it well with the climb just to take in the atmosphere and surrounding views...Enjoy.

The white horse is really clear and is one of the better ones in Wiltshire. There is also a massive monument although it is scaffolded at the minute. The area around it has loads of hills and dips and is a good place for a picnic, for the kids to run about, or to walk a dog. You can get there pretty easily and there are loads of well marked footpaths in the area.
Great walks and views from this landmark, well worth the effort.
Beautiful place, beautiful view.
Impressive hill fort fantastic views. Great wild camping spot
Beautiful views all around, you can see Silbury hill from the top. A sizeable iron age hillfort with impressive earthworks and the Lansdowne monument in the middle. Not forgetting the chalk horse, which although not ancient like Uffington white horse, it is still quite old and iconic
Lovely walk
Special, very special.
