Called The Loop today. Needed a specific needle. When I arrived to make my purchase, after learning the store had what I wanted, a selection of the appropriate needles were waiting for me in a special envelope. That’s not unusual at the Loop. The service is very focused. The range of yarns is wonderful and the knowledge Annie and her team hold is all you will ever need to move you through exciting levels of skill. A five star experience.

Far and away my favourite yarn store that I've ever been to. Some specialty shops can have people running them who are more interested in the specialty than in the shop, and can be very unwelcoming to new customers. The Loop is not one of those shops. Always warm, knowledgeable, and ready to offer advice or help, the people, as much as the products (which are likewise always exceptional), are why this yarn store remains, even after a series of moves which have meant it's farther away from home than ever for me, my favourite and first stop for yarn, needles, hooks, or even just some friendly advice.
Covid is hard on all retail. But some stores are really making a big effort. The owner of the LOOP is one of them. Not only is her little store packed and organized well, she provides lots of suggestions and help to her customers. Even though only 3 people are allowed in the store at one time - she doesn't rush her customers. She is very calm and relaxed and gives the customer plenty of time to find what they are looking for. I really appreciated her assistance and respect how she is with her clients.
The selection at The Loop is easy to browse, and extensive considering their small space. The pricing on their yarn varies, so I feel like a wide range of budgets could shop here and go home with yarn that is both budget-friendly, and great quality. I also appreciate the dedicated areas of the store that show yarn that is made & dyed locally. I really enjoyed the staff (I dealt with Ben, I believe his name was, when I phoned, and twice when I went into the store). I’ve been to several of the independently owned, small yarn stores in Calgary, and I am happy to say that The Loop has become my new favourite location to purchase my yarn at.
We visited last week, (can't remember employees name, sorry) was very very helpful, we are relatively new to The Knitting World. Walked us around answering questions, made sure that Covid measures were maintained. She clearly loves what she does and creates a great atmosphere around her. Store was clean, organized well, accessable and well stocked. Would go again.
