Visited in the winter. Good place for a walk in the winter. Its flat and spread out so you don't run into many others. They should really open this up for more activities in the winter. As it is you have to park on the highway.

Close to Calgary and love that's its first come first serve. The Elbow River is a quick 5 minute trek from most camp sites. Small basic playground and easy little hikes for kids around the site and good hikes close by (e.g Fullerton loop).

More signaling would be great, but this is a great family nature walk! Opportunities to get close to the water, have a picnic in the rocks! No Day use parkade, you have to leave the car at the campground gate. Trail starts in front of spot A13. Only inconvenience was the sounds of the ORVs from McLean creek

The sites are well-treed and feel as private as could be expected on a campground. As there are no reservations you might have to drive around awhile to find an open spot but at least the “occupied” cards make it obvious. All the self-registration kiosks were out of firewood cards so I had to track down the campsite manager to get a bundle. They drove around slowly later so we were able to flag them for more wood. The river is close and the trails along the river are beautiful. You can spend a lovely day walking along the elbow river trails. The toilets were clean by outhouse standards and there are non-potable water pumps.

A decent site along the Elbow Valley. Day use is not allowed, only registered campers are allowed to enter. A small playground is included. Pump water and no power services. I would recommend non-experienced campers to go to Gooseberry or Mclean as there is frequent bear warnings.
