Pretty disappointed with my recent experience with charbar. I was really excited to go out for a nice dinner as things had recently opened up and it was Valentine’s Day! My boyfriend and I had a reservation for Saturday (Feb, 13). for 8pm and didn’t receive our dinner until 9:40... It literally took over an hour and a half (see the time stamp of when we finally got our food in the photo below). The restaurant wasn’t overly busy especially since the capacity has a limit. We were seated upstairs and I think they forgot about us because it took over 1.5 hours for our main course to arrive. We had appetizers as well which took longer than usual to arrive as well. The food itself was good but NOT WORTH THE WAIT. The service was really disappointing for the price of the bill. The worst part was that other tables that were seated after us received their dinner before us! Our server also acknowledged that our order had been taking a very long time... we didn’t order anything special, we made no special requests or substitutions so I’m not sure why it took so long. Really an unreasonable amount of time to wait for your food. In hindsight I think we would have left after the 1 hour mark. Maybe if you get a lucky reservation seated downstairs you’ll have better service, otherwise I do not recommend charbar. And definitely not for a special occasion.

Great dinner out! Headed there for Valentines Dinner, wife had the Gaucho Burger and I had the New York strip. Both were done perfectly and extremely tasty. Great service, from both the wait staff and the kitchen. We sat at the bar Infront of the kitchen/oyster bar. It made for great entertainment while we ate. Thanks for a great evening!

Jessica’s middle name is “hospitality”. She made us feel so welcome and special. David knows food. David knows wine. Trust David. David’s middle name is “pleasant”. We had a perfectly lovely dinner in the care of a fine kitchen and staff. Thank you.

2 stars may be a stretch, bought the ultra aged porterhouse and it was cooked so unevenly and it had clearly sat under a heat lamp after it was cut (grey clammy appearance). There were pieces on the tenderloin side that were like beef jerky and blue rate on the strip side (while still steamed from the heat lamp). Oysters were great (no prep beyond a shuck) and the fries and carrots were okay. They offered to cook a new/different steak but night was already running long and just not into it. Got a couple free drinks as compensation for the majorly disappointing 110 steak (that we were charged full whack for). I was pretty excited for the dinner but left feeling let down.

Ate here for lunch during the week as part of a company lunch with about 10 people. Interestingly enough, it was a bit of a disaster, but I'm leaving 4 stars because of how the server rectified the situation. While the waitress was attentive, and drinks and orders were taken efficiently, the time to get our meals was very long. When they arrived, 2 dishes had the wrong sides and we were notified that the 3 dishes missing had been burnt in the oven and would need to be remade, so would take longer still. While it would've been better to be notified of the delays earlier, the server did then bring out a variety of other dishes on-the-house to feed members of our party who didn't get their food yet. They also brought additional desserts and comped the 3 meals, which were delayed. She also did all of this proactively and was extremely apologetic. While I definitely appreciated our server and her proactive attitude to address and rectify the issues, it seems there may be some organizational chaos in the kitchen! Then again, could be one of those days... Despite the delays and mix-ups, food was still good. I had the asago steak with fries and market salad, which was quite tasty.

Always love this place. We ordered the pizza for the first time! Well worth it. I believe it's typically a lunch treat. Everything was great. The dough is a Sidewalk Citizen Bakery sourdough. This was unreal. We also had the charred cabbage salad and it was very tasty. Highly recommend. We always try and come here when visiting Calgary! Great vibe, service and sense of community.

Fantastic meal! My wife and I decided to try charbar and were very happy with our dinner. The service was quite good although towards the end of our meal it did start to slow down for dessert and our bill but it isn't enough to deter us from visiting again. The food was excellent although a little bit salty. It definitely had lots of flavour though. Overall we would go back for sure.
