I am so happy to recommend BDO company to anyone who is having trouble financially and is not sure where to turn. I have to give this company a five star rating for many reasons. The first and main reason was my more than helpful and supportive Estate Administrator Megan McPherson who has helped me step by step through the process and has always been there to answer my many questions and guide me in the right direction. I have dealt with a few different people in this organization when I asked various questions and submitted my reports, income statements and tax information and each and every individual I dealt with I have the utmost respect for their consistency, prompt response time and detail orientation. I just wanted to thank this company for all their help and for a fresh start. I would highly recommend if you are in a position where you need help and options contact Megan and the group at BDO. You will be so happy you did !

I'd known the accountant who handled my file for a number of years before BDO bought out his employer and so it seemed easy to take the file in question to him. I believe at BDO the return was completed by a junior associate/bookkeeper under the supervision of the accountant. Since the buy-out of the original firm by BDO things have changed and not for the better. I feel fleeced by this company with the invoice for what was a simple straight forward return being at least double and maybe even triple what was expected. This is a function of the bean counters and account managers at BDO LLP and not the accountant. The moral of the story is: \Don't trust that your invoice will be fairly calculated. Make sure to get a firm quote for the work being done on your file and if they won't give you one or are wishy-washy about the cost take your business somewhere else.\ Believe me there's no fighting it after the fact! All too often with these \professional\ corporations us \little\ people go in trusting that we'll be fairly taken care of - what we don't know is what price we'll have to pay for services rendered and we only hope that the charge will be fair. I dont believe \fair charge\ is the case at BDO. It seems that the only thing you can trust this prof corp to do is to take care of themselves and to make sure the yearly bonuses are paid to senior management.
Brigitte at BDO helped us with our US taxes as we own property there. She was very informative on how to deal with it. I handed over all the information they needed and she took it from there. They tied it into our Canadian taxes as well. Very painless. Definitely recommend for anyone who has US income!
They get in touch once, don't update you and I haven't heard back since October 2019. I call and email and I'm told you'll be in touch but that's false as usual. Quite disappointing. Don't waste your time! Money mentors can help you faster.
