Went yesterday with another family and it was so well organised. Had to book in advance, table was ready in the beer garden when we arrived, very straightforward and Covid secure ordering process. Excellent food and beer and friendly welcoming staff. Such a pleasant experience - they’re a shining example of how it can still be enjoyable to go out in the current circumstances. Will definitely be back.

Just re-opened by three school friends, brewing their own beer and sourcing as much possible from Yorkshire. The pub has been refurbished to a good standard and the beer is good value with, currently free bar snacks of cheese cubes and slices of pork pie. Local specialty gin and Fentimans mixers. On a sunny but chilly day, the beer garden was in the sun but empty of people; inside there were warm fires and plenty of people :)
Staff are professional and friendly. Good choice of ales,I haven't tried it but several people have raved about the delicious grub. I'll update when I've personally sampled. Book ahead is best,but not essential for a drop in drink,the facilities currently restricted to the beer garden,quite a few tables with parasols(not umbrellas ). Location just at the bottom of Horbury junction,or through the Scarry tunnel from the canal side. Enjoy, best wishes from Paul.
Great beer, friendly vibe and welcome dogs. Food from the street kitchen in attendance last week was amazeballs. Best burger I've had in years!
Great beer dog friendly, great interior real fires wood floors everything done to a high standard you won't be disappointed a fantastic pub friendly staff and great food don't miss it.The best pub food in wakefield since Bridgetown came to the vale great friendly service try the scotch egg best I have ever had all the varied food is fabulous never disappoints if you want fantastic food superb beer great people get yourself down to the calder vale best pub in wakefield and the best garden also .
