We came here after walking through the town, thinking it looked busy and like the best choice. We were seated quickly but had to wait almost 10 minutes for a menu, and when we eventually received that, we still didn't get a drinks menu and if we had then we wouldn't have paid over 3 for one small glass of lemonade! The sandwiches in co-op across the road are better than what we were eventually served. We also couldn't get any service at all after getting the food. We will not go here ever again!

After finishing touring the Battle of Hastings (Battle Abbey), this is a good place to have afternoon tea. The tea and scones taste amazing! I ordered English breakfast tea and scones. It was very good that I had to get seconds for both English breakfast tea and scones. The staff are very friendly. Sitting on the patio tables while drinking tea and eating scones makes you feel relax and enjoy the outdoors. No rushing just enjoy the view.
Great Burton Ploughman's, seafood salad and cheese sandwiches with chips. Food was excellent as was the coffee. Would recommend the cakes! Overall why go to the main chains that are springing up everywhere when you can support local providers who deliver on standards and service, covid aware and good service.
Tasty food, generous portions, and friendly service with a beautiful backdrop. We ate outside and everything felt well cleaned and staff are good at enforcing the policy that people wait for their tables to be cleaned before seating. I recommend parking at Powdermill Woods and walking up if you have the spare hour. I think in these times they could do with asking if anyone has a timed entry ticket for Battle Abbey because we arrived with over an hour to spare and the chilled pace of service meant that we were nearly late. That said, it was really nice not to feel rushed and I wouldn't usually complain about this.
Superb tea room and restaurant. Everything is freshly prepared. They do a wonderful High Tea. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
