Beautiful walk especially when the weather is great! You have two ways to get up to the Fort, by using the stairs or the road. The stairs way offers great views but is a bit harder than the road. You can visit the Fort, it is free and there are some information around the site to understand how people lived there - very very interesting. There is also a cafe at the bottom near the carpark. Everything is great and I would definitely recommend for a nice day out !

Just loved this place. Stunning scenery. The views from the top are spectacular of brean beach and weston then of flatholm and steepholm and right over to cardiff. The fort itself is a great place with lots of information on its history. Beautiful walk.

If you love a fairly easy walk this is perfect. If you start at Brean, the steps at the beginning are the most challenging but there are stopping/passing places you can stop for a breath and take in the amazing views of Brean beach and the Somerset coat line. The walk over the top and along the peninsula is pretty easy and the views to Weston are stunning. There is a steep drop off at the end where the path takes you to the fort, as long as you have good grip footwear it's fine. The fort is great for a half way stop off point, we had a picnic out of the wind which does seem to whip up there. Good to explore the two stages of occupation, Napoleonic and second world war. I'd like to have seen inside the living quarters, but no access. The barracks is open to the elements and the kids loved that. We took the road way back for a change of scenery. Lovely views out over the Bristol channel and pretty much unspoilt bracken, oak trees and heath land. Theres a little shop at the end of the walk, ice cream and refreshments, perfect to sit a while after your hike!

Absolutely stunning piece of nature. If you like sea, wind, beaches and rocks you can't go wrong. If you don't like those things, stay well clear.
