Buck's Head Inn

Booked reservation saying I was looking for shellfish. Was seated & asked about seafood special & seafood chowder. The only shellfish was mussels in both dishes. I asked if they had any other dishes with lobster, scallops, crab & our waitress said no. After we finished our starters & were eating our mains I heard our waitress offering 1/2 a baked lobster. When I asked is there a different special our waitress said yes but it's not available unless you're seated after 7 pm. The waitress said she couldn't offer it to me. I feel she could have at least told me & I would have asked to wait 20 mins to be seated & get what I wanted to eat. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Silly policy, NOT to give customers what they're asking for & hide the fact from them!! The worst was eating a dish I didn't really want & watching ppl at neighboring tables eating what I would have LOVED to eat!! Def won't be back!

If you want good food, sure, go here. But if you want good food and good service? Don't bloody bother. What I can say is that some staff members were brilliant and accommodating, but when the woman who was acting in a managerial position talked to us like we were dirt on her shoe, we knew we had to leave. There is NO reason to storm off on a table when you disagree with their issues. Wise up. Won't be back.

Had a lovely meal. Food was tasty, fresh and nicely presented. Service was great from friendly and attentive staff. A restaurant very deserving of it's great reputation. There's no doubt we will be back again

This place looks more like a pub from the outside but is really an upscale restaurant at reasonable prices. The food was excellent and the service perfect. My only slight complaint was the draught beer selection was German and not local enough.

Beautiful Sunday lunch today, really tasty food, nicely presented. Covid precautions followed by staff and tables nicely spaced. Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Not ott Christmassy.
