A superb preserved railway running through the beautiful Devon countryside. Plenty to do at either end of the line. If you fancy a trip to Buckfast Abbey there is a bus stop nearby. Great facilities for food, toilets and sitting. A real time warp line.. vintage stations, trains, locomotives and railway paraphernalia from yesterday. Friendly staff. Very reasonable fares and a fairly regular service. Highly recommended.

Not running trains due to Covid 19 restrictions but still quite a lot to see as can wander over site looking at engines and rolling stock. Also bus ride from Buckfastleigh station to Ashburton on old London bus was quite fun. Refreshments available from kiosk and also butterflies and otter experiences there. Look forward to going back when they can run trains.
Really nice day out. Great railway and we also enjoyed both the animal farm and Otters. Ideal for a family, something for everyone. Amazing model shop too.
The trains are not running but Buckfastleigh station is open and well worth visiting. A one way trail takes you round the site with the added bonus of being able to walk round the engine shed - a rare opportunity these days but allowable with no trains. The former signal box is open to pull a few leavers and learn the art of signalling. All the staff were friendly and helpful and don't forget to make a donation in lieu of an entrance charge.
A very interesting place to visit and the staff are very friendly and helpful
