Interesting cloister art in peaceful yard
like
This is located at the right side of the Brixner Dom, and part of the most important artistic monuments in South Tyrol. The place is not overcrowded, you can have peace by looking at those beautiful frescoes still visible after a long time...you can take photos but no flash, no dogs,no drinks, phone must be in silent mode .

Der Kreuzgang neben dem Dom ist ebenfalls sehr sehenswert. Sehr viele kunstvolle Malereien und Fresken. In Zentrum ein kleiner Garten. Wir hatten Glück und trafen zufällig einen Geistlichen der sich sehr gut mit dem Kreuzgang und der Restaurierung auskannte und sich die Zeit nahm uns das ausführlich zu erklären. Ich muss es leider schon wieder sagen, einer der schönsten Kreuzgänge die ich die letzten Jahre gesehen habe. Die Bilder sagen hier vielleicht mehr als meine Worte.
Situato sul lato sinistro del complesso del Duomo. Il chiostro e' costituito da 20 arcate e affascinanti sono gli affreschi risalenti al XIV e XV secolo che raffigurano scene tratte dalla Bibbia. Le opere piu' antiche sono opera di Hans, Erasmus e Cristoph da Brunico. Da ricordare l'affresco dell'elefante Soliman a ricordo del passaggio a Bressanone nel 1551( terza arcata).
La luce non era forse ottimale (con la luce estiva dev'essere ancor più affascinante), ma l'impatto visivo è incredibile. Il fatto che gli effetti cromatici degli affreschi di quelle volte resistano da oltre 700 anni è altrettanto incredibile. Assai particolare \l'elefante\ raffigurato all'arcata XIX; guardandolo si capisce perché lo chiamino anche \cavallofante\: chi lo dipinse cercò di immaginarsi un animale da lui mai visto, che gli veniva raccontato, adattandone le caratteristiche principali ad un animale a lui noto. Bressanone è una piccola città che indubbiamente nasconde molti tesori.
Sehr schöner Kreuzgang mit vielen schönen Gemälden. Man beachte den Elefant und Chewbacca, die sich hier verstecken. Es ist ein sichtbar altes Bauwerk.
