Friendly local traditional fish and chip shop with onsite restaurant and some parking. Really friendly local staff who seem to know all their customers on first name terms. Salmon and salad available on the cafe menu, delicious

This is meant to be a very honest review from one persons point of view. There are so few good fish and chip shops around these days. Every Fish and Chip shop seems to appeal to some people and based on the history I really wanted The Haynes to live up to expectations. Both the man frying and the lady serving made no effort to smile or make conversation even with people they knew but I guess this was just how they were. The shop took contactless payments which was very good for a chippy. I had large cod and large chips. Usually standard chips for 1 is too many but the portion size was very small so even large chips was only enough for 1. The fish was skinless but not very tasty and the batter was almost soggy with an unpleasant taste from the oil that repeated on me some time after the meal. The chips were OK - nothing special - just OK. Overall very disappointing after reading the positive reviews.
