Bristol Animal Rescue Centre Reviews | Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Bristol Animal Rescue Centre is located in Bristol, United Kingdom on 50 Albert Rd. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category animal shelter in United Kingdom. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre and Bristol A.R.C. are the new working names for the RSPCA Bristol and District Branch and the Bristol Dogs & Cats Home. We are the oldest and the largest local animal charity - we have a brand new look, but still provide the same great care! We’ve been caring for the city’s pets and wildlife since 1887, helping, healing and homing over 14,000 vulnerable animals each year. At our Rehoming Centre, we find new and loving homes for around 500 animals each year and at our clinic, we provide veterinary care and treatments to animals belonging to individuals facing financial hardship. We also provide a 24 hour service for injured or sick wildlife and veterinary care to animals who have been victims of cruelty or neglect. Our annual running costs exceed £2 million and although we’re proud to be affiliated with the RSPCA, we receive no automatic funding from them. We rely entirely on local support from the Bristol community and surrounding areas to help fund our work. These donations from the public and support from local businesses and groups enable our dedicated professional team to provide essential local care, love and support, 365 days a year to local Bristol animals in need.

Excellent place. They do so much thankless work for the animals who need it. We adopted our dog from here in July and they were great. The process was thorough, but it needs to be to ensure you are as suitable for the animal as the animal is for you. Recommend to anyone thinking of rehoming.

My daughter is looking to adopt a rabbit, so we have been looking at rescue centres. Although they didn't have many rabbits available, we were welcome to say hi to the other animals there. The member of staff we spoke to, gave us great information, and was very friendly. She informed us that they only let rabbits go in pairs, unless there is already a rabbit in the adopters family. They didn't currently have any pairs, so we weren't able to go any further in the process. As I say, we were allowed to wander round and see the other animals. The whole complex was very clean and tidy. We stopped off to see the small first, and i must say, if anyone is thinking of getting mice, these seem to be the ones in most need of a home so please think about adopting before you go get a cute baby mouse or three. They also had ferrets there. although it seems most animals are rehomed very quickly as many were reserved, and a lot were also new additions. This seemed to appear the case with the dogs there also. There are some beautiful dogs here, so please consider them before buying a puppy. All of the animals information was clearly on display, and really helps in deciding whether you are a suitable match. We were unable to enter the cattery, so I am unable to comment, except to say that signs were up to ask a member of staff if you wished to have a look. I did not do this, as I didn't not want to take time from the staff members when I am not currently looking for a cat (hopefully in the near future though)

Given the pandemic situation, great that they will still accept injured animals for treatment, and allow for having to wash hands before coming in

Dedicated, helpful staff who do great work for abandoned animals. We were fortunate enough to take on two kittens from here and staff did a great job making sure we were prepared and well informed to welcome them to our family. They welcome all sorts of donations and you can help them out in a number of ways. Highly recommended.
