Superb music system with great vinyl DJ playing lots of afro jazz style, a bit loud in a good way, the music system is so good that it's no problem having conversation. Matched with an excellent thirty quid Japanese tasting menu and a good list of sake, natural wines and cocktails in a lovely dim lit room makes the whole experience very Dalston, but in a great way.

The food was truly top notch, though expensive and with slightly small portions. The menu is seasonal and ever changing. It was slightly limited though we were able to find enough excellent dishes to satisfy us. You can try many different exciting flavours. They had a DJ, which I felt was a little strange given the place was almost empty on the Sunday I visited. The music was gentle, sometimes eerie - perhaps sometimes sleepy - jazz. They have a very expensive looking sound system and recommended our seat based on acoustics, so they obviously take it very seriously, though I don't think it stood out or changed the experience much, to be honest.

Great music and a live DJ, very accommodating staff (replaced my set-menu chicken by something veggie, being a pescatarian it was hard to settle for one of the standard menus). Sushi were really delicious, especially the white fish!

We went for the 30 set menu, which sounded great, on paper...Plus a few drinks and service it was 55 a head. I had really high hope for this, but the whole thing lacked finesse and I’m confident I could have made each dish better in my own home. Here’s a quick fire list of main gripes: - sashimi, there was still a layer of fat on the salmon - tempura prawns, very bland and the dipping sauce didn’t taste of much - chicken karaage was decent enough but came with a very strange rocket and cranberry side salad - to finish off there was a very standard miso soup - cutlery, and dishes all felt a bit cheap The whole thing felt like a very standard starter selection you’d get on Deliveroo. If you compare with what’s available for a similar price point in the area Brilliant Corners is very lacking. It’s a shame because the building is cool, but dinner there is very ‘un cool’ - ouch, but it’s true. Would not recommend or dine there again.
