Worst service I have er er experienced, and the rooms were disgusting. Our "family room" was right next to the smoking area which made it stink from old smoke, the owners response when confrontet, was that we could just leave if we didn't like it, not so easy at 8pm with two small kids.
Hotel Ballumhus is a nice and quiet place very close to the Danish German border. It is a nice play to stay if you are going to explore the incredible nature surrounding the hotel and especially Vadehavet. The rooms are OK and the restaurant is fine. Service is perfect and the staff very friendly.
Very classy location. Food was great and drinks were greatly mixed. Though it was very expensive.
We were the only non local visitors in the restaurant, but we felt immediately welcome. Super friendly staff (they all speak English very well) and great food.
It was a very pleasant stay except for the fact that we were over charged for our breakfasts. 10 of us stayed the first night and 8 ordered breakfasts for the next morning. In the morning I payed for the room and all the breakfasts. It was not until later I found that I had been charged for 12 breakfasts. When I contacted the 5 of our party who stayed another night, I was told that they also paid for their breakfasts. In other words, over charged by the cost of at least 7 breakfasts. I have been trying to get a refund from the manager for over 2 months. He has obfuscated all the way and has not even offered an apology, let alone an refund. So my advice is to check your bill carefully before you pay.
Pros: lovely atmosphere, clean rooms, fantastic breakfast with lots of options Cons: dated bathrooms, saw 3 giant spiders in a single day, remarkably unfriendly staff (when I approached the desk to ask a question, the receptionist answered "no" and shut the glass right in my face.
