I have always found the Village Gym to be a very friendly, well run club with a good variety of classes and a well equipped gym. Since reopening after Covid I have been really impressed with the measures put in place to keep everyone safe, and feel very confident using the facility. The staff all wear masks, they take your temperature at reception, cleaning is frequent and thorough. All of this is done with enthusiasm by the staff who are the organisation’s best asset. They work well together as a team and make members feel welcome. The Covid measures actually make the experience more pleasant as there is more space in the studios and the gym. The Village has an app that tells you the capacity at any given time, allowing you to make an informed decision as to whether to go or not. The only downside to limiting capacity on classes is that they are harder to book onto, but I am sure, in time, schedules will be reviewed. I recommend anyone to join or or or re-join.

I wanted to give this place a two star review. But after seeing all I wrote I have to give it just one star. The place is too expensive for what they offer. I went on the free day pass but what a disappointment. To start with the staff doesn't tell you you need a wrist band to use the lockers. It's 5 deposit cash only. The showers are full of mold and the ceiling across the building is very old and dirty. <see pictures> Small sauna and small steam room. The jacuzzi has been out of actions for weeks <according to one of the members I talked to> it seems to me that they are running on low. The gym also needs redoing as it looks old. The free day pass offer so many things that I did not see or were offered. Really bad.

The vibe and atmosphere in general is great, people and staff are really nice and professional! The facilities are ok, the swimming pool is big and it's always good to swim after a good workout, and end up at the steam room or sauna is amazing feeling after long day!

My experience was the worst, the same as the person's, who gave the sick note, but was harrassed for payments. In 2017 I paid 5 joining fee, but due to ill health did not visit the jym even once and did not collect my membership card. Then due to personal circumstance I had to go abroad. I cancelled my membership and never went into the gym, explaining everything in the email to the manager. I was harassed by the manager for many months by threatening emails for payments and threats of court until I wrote a complaint to customer cervices and the harassment stopped. I would never attend this place. The manager could not read and understand simple emails, she was behaving like a person with low IQ. Real shame.

I started back at the gym/pool Bournemouth the day it reopened and could n't have been happier. The welcome from the team, the organisation and social distancing and cleanliness were all spot on. I have been most days since, still relatively quiet there so if people are having doubts I would definitely recommend getting back to training/swimming etc. Best I've felt since March! Cheers, Kev Murray.
