Excellent powerboat training in the Portsmouth harbour area. Very good balance between theory (mornings) and practice (afternoons). The area is quite complex in terms of types of marks, vessels and weather conditions, so it’s a true measure of complexity that prepares you to embark on your own sailing journey for the future. Mark covers all aspects of the technical elements, as well as safety, knots and even chart reading (offline and online) and Ken and Tim bring those elements into play when going out with the 1:3 ratio so everyone has an equal opportunity to practice. Don’t hesitate to plan for it, even in COVID times, sanitising measures are put in place so everyone feels comfortable during the 2-day training.

Having read previous reviews I booked my Powerboat Level 2 course, and drove 1hour 30minutes from my home to attend the 2 day course. Boatability provided a relaxed, inclusive and personable welcoming and approach. They were always generous with offering a cuppa too which helped! On both days I spent the morning in the classroom (All Covid secure with an abundance of hand gel available) to learn the key elements of boating. Then in the afternoon I applied the teaching to the actual water. In both the classroom and on the water the teaching was top class. Clear and concise. I cannot endorse the quality of their teaching enough. Even at the end of the course they supported me with filling in my ICC form. Finally for those who were concerned about Covid prevention. It was mandatory to wear masks inside their teaching cabin, with plenty of hand gel available. Furthermore, at the end of my course I also witnessed one of the team go to the nearby toilet block to ensure that was all clean and tidy for the following day. I will be returning at some point to do further courses with them.

Thanks to Nick and the whole Boatability team for a great weekend on the Powerboat 2 course. Mark made our morning classroom tuition informative, enjoyable and relevant to our individual boats and locations. Nick made the tuition come alive during the practical sessions on the boat in the afternoon. It was my first time driving a boat and I was quite nervous. Nick was calm and patient, and he made me feel very comfortable learning on the water. The whole Boatability team was friendly, professional, passionate about teaching and instilling confidence -- and they even arranged great weather! Very best wishes, Victoria and James

As a Master Trainer for both World Rugby and the World Academy of Sport, I run and assess a lot of training. The Level 2 Powerboat course I attended at Boatability this week was, in my view, of the highest standard. The ability to deliver essential information in an interesting and challenging way made the 2 days hugely enjoyable for all involved. All three instructors interacted well and, at all times, we participants felt safe and valued. I learned a huge amount despite being brought up on boats and now feel much more confident about hiring powerboats on holiday. A huge thank you to Nick, Graham and Luke and well done to all my fellow skippers.

Powerboat Level 2 Superb quality training by real experts with lots of experience. The level of professionalism and customer service is superb! For those who wait until the weather is nice do course like this, I highly recommend you consider a winter course. Taking lessons on \wind over a Spring Tide\ with the full moon out tonight, it certainly will be (see I learned stuff) in the chop gives you a much better hands-on experience of how to handle the boat when things aren't perfect and surely that's as important, if not more important than a sail through the harbour on a hot summer's day. Great job guys, thanks for your time, your professionalism and your hospitality! Oh and also thanks for the wet gear recommendation, mine arrived today. Not sure I'll need it on the Thames but will definitely need it around the Lizard and Penzance. Good luck with everything.
