Okay so I chose the 2 hour trip but it certainly did not feel 2 hours due to the breathtaking views and the wonderful staff. Going there I ordered everything from there menu, had a lovely carrot cake with a cup of Welsh tea which is much better than your normal PG tips. The train felt so surreal and comfortable my daughter was running around having so much fun. On the way back I closed my eyes and fell asleep to the sound of the soothing train tracks. The feeling was just out of this world. Would definitely recommend it.

Having been on this journey before we were very keen to give our grandson his first steam train experience. Very expensive for such a reduced travel time.. We should have left it for another time for him to experience the longer journey.

Undoubtedly one of the best ways to go on a day out from Blaneau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog, not only do you get beautiful sights on a clear day but also travel in a relaxed and comfortable fashion, with catering being available. On a clear day, especially if wanting to make use of the observation deck at the end of the train, ticket upgrades are well worth it.

Super day out. Porthmadog is a delightful station, serving both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. It takes 70 minutes to Blaenau and the scenery is lovely. Plenty of opportunities to take photos. It is also possible to walk between some stations, so suits the keen walker as well.
