The Medical Staff here are excellent but cannot say the same for Nursing Staff and I mean from the Top.Some nurses are excellent and some the opposite who think patients are an occupational hazard. This is endemic throughout the NHS and would treat you differently if you were Private.

My husband & myself recently visited Blackpool Victoria Hospital & used there cafeteria several times throughout our day! In the morning, I had an extremely tasty scrambled egg roll with 2 hash browns & mayonnaise which was very tasty indeed followed by a nice, hot mug of tea. In the afternoon, we both enjoyed minestrone soup with rolls & 2 more mugs of tea which really was so delicious! The prices were very reasonable & the staff were all very helpful & friendly. Due to us frequenting this Hospital, we therefore use the cafeteria regularly & we have sampled many a dish! All being thoroughly enjoyable! I do recommend eating/drinking in this comfortably decorated cafeteria which has excellent Wifi!

This is a real shame as mostly the nurses were amazing and bent over backwards to help as I did for them. I am my fiancé’s Carer and also have mental health issues myself so I wear a lanyard I understand completely about COVID and if I have to wait in a different room even if I am his Carer but this has bothered me so much I don’t even want to come into any hospital or doctors again. I kept hearing the staff say SHE is with the patient he seams like he can understand what is said to him but she has a lanyard on, first of all yes he can understand most things but sometimes he has slurred speech and needs me as he gets frustrated and sometimes need a wheelchair, but hearing her and she needs to go and things of this nature has really upset me being told no visitors as if I’m nothing. Don’t get me wrong majority of the staff was amazing and when speaking to me realised I may need some extra care aswell as my partner, if asked why I am an advocate for him I will gladly explain as most staff bent over backwards for us and I helped them as he got a bit mad so they got me to sort him out which I did and even though they were busy they stopped to talk and help me anyway they could apart from one who ask me to give her some wipes and my partner said oh she can’t touch them I said no it’s fine she then looked at me odd and said why can’t you touch them I explained and I said I think I did well she sort of laughed and said oh yh well done. It has really affected me and think some more professionalism and understanding of others who attend who may advocate for someone who could also be dealing with issues of there own and be aware.

Brilliant hospital couldn't fault it. Was transferred from Walsall Manor and Blackpool Vic told me more in a day than Walsall told me in 5 days. If it wasn't for this hopsital I wouldn't of found out I needed surgery! The staff were lovely and was seen to almost straight away, wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
