You can't book a table at the moment. It is too cold to stand outside and wait a unspecified amount of time for a free table. I asked how long roughly it would be and I was told, Maybe a minute. Maybe half an hour. Maybe longer. Surely they know when someone inside is finishing up. The bedrooms were spotless and warm. A enjoyable 3 nights.

What a fantastic find, stopped off whilst passing through Caernarfon for a bite to eat. We we're really lucky to get a table as the place was buzzing and people that were arriving had booked. The service we very good and the food was excellent value for money. The portion sizes are very generous, food tasted out of this world. I would not hesitate to come back here again and might even book a room as the pub is in the heart of the town.
Not worth it if you are vegetarian. This is one of my favourite pubs..and I'm a regular.. and have a loyalty card so it would have been 5 stars from me... until now. At the moment, if you are veggie, just forget about eating there. It was useless. We took some friends there last week (two of us were veggie). The menu for meat eaters was great; probably around 20 options. For us? A slice of cheese & onion quiche with chips and salad, 11... or sweet potato roulade with chips, 14. That's potato with potato, and zero protein. Not even any salad. I'm not sure if the chef doesn't understand nutrition, or just couldn't be bothered to construct a decent menu for veggies. Also, the chips tasted like yesterdays heated up roast potatoes, if you know what I mean. That slightly old manky flavour that smelled weird and made me sad. I really hope that was a one-off cos I used to eat there quite frequently and last week's meal was expensive and utter pants :(
We were passing the Black Boy on our walk round Caenarfon. We decided to book a table for a meal. Signing in in case of covid spread was easy. The meal we had was very good, but, the pasty I had needed a steak knife to cut it. Not a problem but something that can be addressed in the kitchen. The big surprise came when we came to pay, and realised it was a eat out to help out price. We had no idea. Well worth visiting. Interesting indoors as the decor is oldy worldly. Staff were very friendly and efficient. They deserved the good tip we left in appreciation. Definitely our kind of place. Please visit, you'll love it.
Tried to order dinner on Sunday night around 8pm but was told they shut the kitchen early due to lack of customers. We had dinner on Monday night around 7:30pm was well worth the wait. Track and trace signs before you enter the restaurant and masks are mandatory when you enter, leave and walk around the bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was great lamb shank fell off the bone and was really tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection, medium. Great selection of ciders both on tap and bottles
Mmmm yum.. went in on the off chance two adults two children. We were seated promptly. Good menu choices with adult and child. Reasonably priced. Food great standard and tasty. Puddings were massive and lush. Will definitely go again x

Superb Inn. The accommodation is generous and cosy, had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. The staff are exceptionally helpful. Breakfast in the morning was superb too. The location is set within castle walls
