Your Local Trans Boy

I spent 3 months on the adolescent acute ward from May to August 2019. I met some amazing staff and patients who really did help me and I connected to them personally as well. I was given great support. Their main approach was acute mental health however they supported me with other problems such as my eating problems where they gave me meal support and spoke a lot when it got hard with respect and support from most staff. The lack of star is because I arrived informally but wanted to leave so they sectioned me however the second my section ended, they were pushing discharge on me and pressuring me to leave which led to an impulsive discharge from myself and 2 more admissions to different units. I feel like if they had taken things more seriously and supported me until I was safe enough to go home, I wouldn't have had those futher attempts and hospitalizations. Great help and treatment, they just should have worked with me better and assessed my needs. I needed to be kept for longer on that admission and not rushed out to prevent relapse.

Visitors can get inside without showing ID or sign. I’m not kidding. I asked them to check the CCTV when they said it’s not true, and they didn’t check it. This place is terrible, staffs are rude and they basically locked people in their rooms without giving you any support.

Would recommend this hospital!! The help I received helped me so much and the staff are so supportive from the second you arrive. They make you feel very comfortable and if you are feeling unsure, offer amazing support. Thank you to all the staff!!!

No privacy. No professional help. Refused to call my name but my room number. Asked me to help another patient to do translation during my lunch time, said I was dramatic when I dropped my tears, telling me would put this in my file but ignored the fact that I cried as I was being treated with no dignity by their very rude and uneducated staff. Didn’t give me pills for fever until three hours later, I tried to talk to the staff but she told me she had had enough today without even looking at my face. Didn’t know whether I was on section, on meditation, knew nothing about me. Very rude and unwilling to help. This place was very noisy, people screamed and cried all the time. Visitors could enter the place without signing anything. Tried to make a complaint but they said I had no evidence to prove it. And said their staff didn’t remember these things. They could check the visitors signing book, or check the cctv. Don’t go to this place. Your family won’t receive any professional help. These people don’t treat you as human being.
