Birmingham St Mary's Hospice Reviews | Rating 4.6 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Birmingham St Mary's Hospice is located in Birmingham, United Kingdom on 176 Raddlebarn Rd. Birmingham St Mary's Hospice is rated 4.6 out of 5 in the category hospice in United Kingdom. Every day, Birmingham St Mary’s cares for 400 people living with life-limiting illness across Birmingham and Sandwell. All of our services are free of charge to everyone who uses them, including individuals, their families, loved ones and carers. We offer a range of services in a number of locations – including at the Hospice, in people’s homes or in the local community – making end of life care more accessible for all. Most of our care is provided in people’s homes or in the local community – including at our three Satellite Clinics in Bartley Green, Druids Heath and Cape Hill. This care is delivered by our community and Hospice at Home teams, who work in conjunction with GPs, consultants and other healthcare professionals to offer specialist medical advice and emotional support. In addition to caring in people’s homes, we also have an inpatient unit for professional end of life care and symptom management. Our day services – including our Day Hospice and Welcome Group – allow individuals to enjoy complementary therapies, as well as psychological, social and spiritual care. We have a dedicated Family and Carer Support Team, who are on hand to support with emotional and practical matters. That might be helping to write a will or providing bereavement counselling but whatever you need, the team is there to support loved ones, families and carers. We also champion palliative care and have a commitment to research, innovation and teaching with the aim of improving hospice care and making it available to all. Whilst free of charge to those who need them, it costs £8 million each year to run the Hospice – that’s £21,918 a day, £914 per hour, and £16 every minute. We therefore rely on the generous support of local people to help fund our vital work. There are many ways that you can get involved and support us – from signing up to an event, volunteering, making a donation or shopping at one of our 16 stores.

My mam passed away the 18 July 2016 at Saint Mary's. Sorry to say it has taken me all this time, to say a big thank you for the care provided. The staff were so good to mam and all the family. They put up with use staying all night and day. It was a great experience for us to be able to be there for each other. And to have a priest available whenever we asked was just so good. Thank you so much to all involved.

My sister-in-law was extremely well cared for by all the staff at St Mary’s. She wanted to go home so it was arranged for her to go into the self contained flat and we had a special party for her. She had a fantastic time but passed away the following day leaving all the family with very happy memories mixed with sadness. Thank you all for making her life so special .

After a very bad experience with the GP we were relieved to place our brother in to the Hospice where he was finally treated with the dignity and humanity that he deserved - from diagnosis to passing was only 10 weeks and in St Marys we were able to stay with him around the clock for whilst he was in the hospice and he passed peacefully in our arms surrounded by love and laughter and David Bowie playing gently in his ears. Nothing was too much for the staff and they were all wonderful from the cleaners, the catering staff to the nurses and the doctors. We will forever be indebted to them for allowing a perfect gentleman the dignity in passing that he deserved.
