I am a fairly new customer to this place, visited multiple times before lock down, spent a few hundred on coins. After a recent visit, I have decided to no longer return my custom.
Why?
When selling coins to him, he test's you to see if you know what you have and will definitely try to take advantage.
I wont go into it too much detail but I recently visited to add some more coins to my Morgan collection, brought in a coin in that I would like to sell to fund it, he told me my 1915D Barber half dollar was a VF grade which I declined, it is AU in my opinion, but he didn't want to listen, I told him there is no wear, he said there was (I am a collector of 6 years, not someone who has inherited a collection, I know the grading scale, and know what to look for) He then offered me 100, which was about 30 above the book price of a VF and acknowledges the fact, I suppose this tactic would work on someone who doesn't know what they have, make them feel like they have got a better deal. We didn't come to a deal, the guy is impossible to deal with, when I asked what the price in the book (which he is always referencing), was for a coin I wanted from him, tells me he doesn't care about book price, he was asking 75 above the book price of a 160 coin.
Back to the coin he under graded, I have found and added the picture of the highest possible grade of VF which is a 35, they are graded 20, 25, 30 and 35, as well as my coin, just look at them both and compare, I know you have to make money, but come on, being dishonest to profit? people trust you to give accurate valuations.
Conclusion of this review, dishonest coin dealer, will deflate the value of your coins and inflate the value of his and act unimpressed by anything you bring in, there is just no balance, such a shame there are dealers out there like this, nothing quite like the feeling of visiting a coin shop and getting a fair deal, unfortunately, you wont get one here.
