Just had mushroom vol-au-vents and florentines. Both were delicious. Pastry on the vol-au-vents was light and crispy and the filling deep and tasty. Florentines had just the right balance of chocolate and nutty/Caramel topping.

Fantastic hygiene on every visit. Helpful and kind staff. The cream cakes are getting smaller, but not cheaper (Birds please take note, we are aware!). Tomato sausages are excellent. The staff and service is very good!
Birds is one of the best bakeries a bout . It's biggest mistake is they don't order enough of anything they always run out .the times you can go to the shop just after lunch and they've sold out this happens time and again and I hear a lot of people talk about it .which is such a shame as I don't think there's one thing of birds that I don't like not just bakery goods but there fresh meats as well .
Birds have always been a great cake and bread shop ,but just bought a 6inch custard tart not impressed base pastry far to thick it made it claggy, so will buy no more of them.
Great cakes and bread, must try on the hot sausage rolls, lovely.
