Bill's Canterbury Restaurant

We went for breakfast. The staff were friendly enough. We saw that Bill's were extending the 50%off.But they didn't tell us it was only on the set menu after 11am?! The full breakfast was 'delicate' the beans truly no more than a large dessert spoonful. Nearly 13 and even the toast was trimmed to a minimum. The coffee (cappuccino) was small and half of the cup was froth! Even if a larger cup was available it's about value for money and that was not worth the price. Whether COVID19 has had its effect financially I dont know but the waitress informed me they had stopped all discounts to emergency services/key workers and even staff discount! Bill's is a nice place to sit in but sorry it really is not worth the prices. It really isn't. And if they are not supporting key workers like the blue light ladies and gents then it's a no from me! We arrived and got served soft drinks straight after our orders were taken, the tap water we had to wait an extra 10 minutes for as they couldn't find a jug. This is a tad annoying but not a big deal. The starters arrived in good time but not at the same time, it turns out we had been given the table next to ours starters. The starters were lovely. We had to wait an hour and ten minutes to get our mains, I believe it would have been longer if we hadn't said something to the waitress. We got our food, the seasoning and cooking was good, but the base ingredients weren't. The sirloin steak was at least third fat, I understand sirloin can be fatty but what wasn't fat was chewy and rubbery, It was cooked medium rare. The salad bowl was overpowered with lots of olives on it. The table next to us got given a set wrong of mains after waiting a longer than us. I'm not sure if it was a bad day, or people were training. But if they can't keep up with the orders coming in with a reasonable time then don't pack the place full. They then automatically add a 15% service charge onto your bill. Overall if the wait wasn't so long it would be a good place, but it shouldn't be well over an hour for mains.

Vibrant and friendly place in the middle of Canterbury town. All the staff were super friendly and helpful every time we visited. We usually meet here with friends for breakfast at least once every month because it's such a great place to meet and eat. The breakfast was always very tasty and they also offered a gluten free option for one of our friends who is gluten intolerant. Very good value for money too. Highly recommended. There is plenty of seating over two levels and an outside seating area too.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO GO IN THERE!!! I don't usually write reviews but I am very disappointed with this estaurant\.I have discovered it during August \eat out help out\scheme. The food (I had sirloin and my wife had chicken breast) was tasty but the service was non existent. The staff looked EXHAUSTED AND ILL and there was not enough waiters to serve everybody!! A table we were sitting next to left and the waiter took the plates away but the table and chairs were not disinfected before the next group sat down. I thought maybe its because of the\eat out help out\ as the restaurant was very busy then so I decided to give it another chance. Well guess what.... Nothing changed during my next visit. It wasnt even busy but there was just not enough waiters and the ones that were there looked like theyre ill. I dont know if they have covid19 or if theyre just tired but I am not going to RISK going there again. Health and safety of people should be a prirority number one right now!! Health of your waiters too, you are letting your staff spread the virus!! I dont think I will return any time soon Pros: tasty food cons: - no proper disinfection of tables - too many people allowed in and NOT ENOUGH WAITERS - ill staff allowed to work

Fantastic! A superb restaurant, with a vibrant atmosphere. We visited on a busy Monday evening, ravenous after our busy day of sightseeing. Initially, shown to a dreadful seat near to a table full of screaming children, we managed to persuade the reluctant waiter to show us an alternative seat upstairs. Once upstairs our evening was transformed! Comfortable seats, elegant surroundings, fantastic music and a relaxing, fun vibe. We enjoyed a wonderful evening. I ordered fish burger & a green juice- absolutely delicious! Fresh, tasty & cooked to perfection. Staff were polite & friendly. Reasonably priced, this is a fanatastic restaurant.......
