Went there on Friday with loft/shed rubbish, including 2 brand new printers in the boxes. Asked one of the guys if he wanted them, no ..he said, we're not allowed to have things of people ( probably due to covid ). Went the next day , threw a bag of rubbish in the skip, then saw an attendant fishing it out and retrieving a full miniature set of gins I'd thrown away. So, are they allowed stuff from the public or not ?
7/12/20 Time of visit 3.30 pm There’s no improvement. It’s in fact worse! I waited outside an enclosure stating ‘only one person in at a time’ as there were two ‘workers’ in there doing nothing. I was told to go in as they were ‘staff’. Presumably staff don’t get covid! I ignored his advice! There was also an elderly lady trying to find the correct bin. One ‘worker’ was vaguely directing her without much effect and two others were standing laughing at her struggling. 1/10/20 We took two very good hard suitcases this afternoon and we’re going to give them to the resale section. At the entrance to this section were two men. One was sitting on a box and the other standing. They were both on their phones. When we asked where they would like them the man standing pointed to the other. He in turn looked up briefly and disdainfully from his phone and said ‘in the non recycling mate’. We obviously didn’t take his advice and are taking the items to a charity so they can be reused. I don’t know how many are employed by you and how much they’re paid but think these two were not working. Please check your time sheets and rectify this waste of precious council money. I think they also need better communication skills. I don’t like being addressed as ‘mate’ by someone a third of my age. I should be grateful for a response!
I’ve used this centre for years, always found staff friendly, professional and helpful. My first post- lockdown visit left me with a flat battery and my car in an awkward place inside the centre ( and yes I did do my best to keep the battery charged but obviously it was not enough). After that event I can add ‘kind’ to my list of adjectives. No one made me feel at all silly and everyone did their best to help.
Great facility, well organised and well managed by helpful people.
